LED bridge railing for Jan Hendrik Oortbrug Oegstgeest

With an LED bridge railing, the municipality of Oegstgeest has opted for an attractive appearance in the renovation of the Jan Hendrik Oort bridge bicycle and pedestrian bridge. The new fencing will therefore be equipped with an ILLUNOX® bridge railing.

Custom LED bridge railing

The fencing of the bridge will be equipped with an illuminated handrail at the top. The LED handrail is an integral part of the design. Based on this design, the dimensions of the LED bridge railing are 101.6 x 3.6mm. This tube railing is provided with a space for the integration of the ILLUNOX® LED system. In-house, this base for the illuminated bridge railing is specially manufactured. The handrail tube is then powder coated integrally with the metal fencing in colour.

Installing LED bridge railing on location

On location will be the fully continuous. warm white (3,000K), LED lighting by ILLUNOX® technicians can be professionally installed in the bridge railing. This will take place around November 2019. The LED handrail will illuminate the road surface, which is more than 5 meters wide, at an angle. In this way, the most optimal light effect is achieved. This makes the bridge not only attractive, but also functionally illuminated. As a luminaire, the illuminated handrail meets the IK10 and IP65 qualifications. With these qualifications, it is therefore ideally suited for public space. The water-resistant LED strip is very solidly locked in the handrail profile. In addition, the ILLUNOX® system has a long service life and is cost-effective in maintenance.

Unburdening in collaboration

The bridge renovation of the Jan Hendrik Oort bridge is being realized in close collaboration with De Vries Werkendam. De Vries Werkendam can fully focus on its core business. This is because ILLUNOX® takes care of all matters related to the realization of the illuminated handrail. ILLUNOX® also supplies the light calculations and electricity connection plans. The installation of the LED lighting in the bridge railing is the finishing touch of the renovation. After completion, the bridge users will be able to walk or cycle in warm atmospheres on the Jan Hendrik Oort bridge in Oegstgeest this year.
